You’d Know

Any human heart would know
It’d have to be trapped under flesh and bone to miss
To miss these clouds of pain and fear
Any human heart should know
That love is made of two, not one
One can be alone, one can lie
Any human heart would know
These days are long, these hours full of waiting
Waiting to feel, to hear, for the hope to pan out
Any human heart should know
These spring winds are for growing not breaking
Breaking is harder when the sun is out
Any human heart would know
So what is it that beats inside of your chest
Your chest that must have been broken into before
Any human heart should know
Giving away what isn’t there, what’s been taken
Taking what you don’t have, just isn’t fair
Your human heart would know
But you’re just another empty person
An empty person searching to be filled
You just wouldn’t know.
