Tangled

What we have and what we’ve done
All that time taken by the sun
Constructing these hearts built on tangled memories
A mess of sunburned shoulders and freckled faces
We spent days braving tide pools, running headstrong into waves
Our smiles that we swore would last through centuries
The grit of sand between our toes, the grains filling in the spaces
Sometime it will be all of this that we take to our graves
Those days, that sun, this chance to be more than young
